We - The Author

Schreibtischtäter > Academic writing > Linquistic precision

Often the authors hide behind passive formulation: The following will be investigated, it is to show here is to emphasize, is to be shown in the work. These formulations work when they occur frequently, slightly artificial. Earlier in the German language of science prevailed almost a taboo-I. The scientists could not be written as "I" stand out, but had to be behind the "we" or hide the "one" or just escape into passive constructions. In fact, scientific texts should not be colored person, but only objectively argue. This does not mean that the "I" of the author / authoress must therefore withdraw. In more recent science texts, we are increasingly the "I" used by the author. He refers to his position and justifies its opinion. However, people need to be clear at all times that the authors do not represent a subjective opinion, but justify their claims and report their scores.
